The clinic is consultant-led with every patient seen and examined by one of our highly experienced ophthalmic surgeons to discuss the best treatment for you. This valuable time with your own doctor is surprisingly rare, with many other clinics not offering this as part of their service.
We believe that this surgeon consultation approach, alongside a unique blend of technology, surgical skill and patient care, has made Visualase the preferred choice for laser eye surgery in the region.
Here at Visualase, a private, independent clinic, we understand that choosing a provider for your laser eye correction is a big decision. We have over 21 years experience in delivering clinical excellence and exceptionally high levels of patient care.
You will enjoy the benefit of having your consultation with your own doctor, as we know that you will have questions regarding your suitability and the treatment itself, and we will help guide you through the process every step of the way and reassure you that your eyesight is in the best possible hands.
Other treatments we offer: REFRACTIVE LENS EXCHANGE
Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE) is a surgical procedure for the correction of short sight (myopia) and long sight (hyperopia) to reduce your dependence on glasses or contact lenses.
Refractive Lens Exchange is an alternative to laser vision correction (LVC) in patients unsuitable for laser refractive surgery. The common reason is that the refractive error (spectacle prescription) is too large to be safely or effectively corrected by LVC.
RLE involves a surgical procedure on the eye that is very similar to modern cataract surgery. It therefore uses tried and tested techniques and technologies.
CATARACT SURGERY
Cataract surgery is an operation used to treat cataracts that are affecting your daily life. More than 300,000 procedures are carried out each year in the UK, making it the most common operation of any speciality performed in the country.
Cataracts can usually be treated with a routine day case operation where the cloudy lens is removed and is replaced with an artificial plastic lens. Lens surgery is a very established procedure and was first performed in 1950.
Cataract surgery takes 10-15 minutes to complete
Since then the operation has consistently evolved; current techniques using ultrasound and a keyhole approach have demonstrated an excellent safety track record.
